Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with litigation experience to support attorneys throughout all phases of the litigation process. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. This position plays a critical role in case preparation, court filings, and attorney support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to attorneys
  • Prepare, draft, proofread, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, and correspondence
  • Manage electronic and paper filing in state and federal courts, including e-filing systems
  • Maintain litigation calendars, track deadlines, and monitor court schedules
  • Assist with discovery procedures, including document production, requests, responses, and deposition preparation
  • Organize and maintain case files, exhibits, and trial notebooks
  • Coordinate service of process and communicate with courts, clients, opposing counsel, and vendors
  • Assist in trial preparation, hearings, and arbitrations as needed
  • Perform legal research and factual investigations under attorney supervision
  • Manage billing entries, expense tracking, and timesheets (if applicable)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum X years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal supporting litigation matters
  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, and filing requirements
  • Experience with state and federal court e-filing systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal case management software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize deadlines
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in specific practice areas (e.g., civil litigation, employment, commercial, personal injury, insurance defense, or family law)
  • Familiarity with document management and e-discovery platforms
  • Paralegal certificate or legal assistant certification
  • Experience supporting trial preparation and courtroom proceedings

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • May require occasional overtime during trial or peak litigation periods
